Van Mieghem Logistics can help you to prepare for Brexit!
By 31 October at the latest, the United Kingdom will logically leave the European Customs Union, known as the BREXIT without agreement or NO DEAL. As a result of this BREXIT, trade with the United Kingdom (UK) will also be subject to the provisions of the Union Customs Code (UCC) and customs formalities. This means that doing business with the UK will impose the same constraints as with China or any other country without an agreement outside Europe. For a Belgian company this also means that the CMR and the shipping note will not be sufficient to ship your goods to the UK. You will also need an invoice, a packing list, customs nomenclature codes and of course customs formalities related to exports to be established before your goods arrive at the new border. In addition, and depending on your type of goods, it may be necessary to provide certificates or have your products analysed before export.
Trading after the BREXIT will therefore never be the same as it is now.
If you have a commercial relationship with the UK, there is still time to get in order and prepare for the BREXIT.
The first thing to do is to request your EORI number from the Belgian customs by filling in the form in the link below, it's free and fast:
If you have frequent departures to the UK it would also be useful to request an "Approved place" authorisation from the Belgian customs, this will allow you to complete the formalities directly from your establishments.
In any case, we are at your disposal to provide you with the necessary support.
