In food logistics, standards never stop rising

The Belgian food industry is among the most demanding in Europe, and one of the most rewarding to serve as a logistics partner.

Full traceability, narrow delivery windows, strict product specifications, retailer-specific protocols, FAVV oversight: these are not constraints, they are the operating standard. Meeting them requires structured processes, precise execution, and long-term partnerships with both producers and retailers.

At Van Mieghem Logistique, this is the framework we operate in every day

Transport, warehousing and flow management are deployed to fit the specific demands of each food client, with consistency, rigour and operational discipline at every stage.

End-to-end traceability

Traceability is the foundation of food logistics — not a feature, but a baseline requirement. Every logistical unit we handle is identified, tracked and reported within our systems.

1.  SSCC labelling

Serial Shipping Container Code, GS1-128 standard, is applied to every pallet and parcel, ensuring unique identification across the entire supply chain.

2.   Lot numbers, batch references and best-before dates

Are captured at reception and linked to each SSCC within our WMS.

3. DESADV EDI messages (EANCOM standard)

Are transmitted to retailers ahead of every delivery — Colruyt, Delhaize, Carrefour, Lidl, Aldi and others — enabling cross-docking, SSCC scanning at the reception dock, and automated stock updates on the retailer's side.

4. Recall scenarios

Can be executed within minutes thanks to bidirectional traceability between batch, SSCC, order and delivery point.
